A nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and wellbeing.
When it comes to supporting your body’s health, eating a balanced diet is key. As much as we might wish for ‘miracle cures’ when we’re feeling run-down or regretting that second helping the night before, there are no quick fixes when it comes to achieving good health and improving our well-being.
Fortunately, however, there are some foods that are super-charged with nutrients, that, when added to your diet, can help give you an added boost such as supporting your immune system or aiding recovery after exercise. Some of the nutrients that certain superfoods contain include antioxidants, thought to ward off cancer; healthy fats, thought to prevent heart disease; fibre, thought to prevent diabetes and digestive problems; or phytochemicals, the chemicals in plants responsible for deep colours and smells, which can have numerous health benefits.
The majority of superfoods are low in calories compared to their nutrient content but remember – enjoy everything in moderation! Superfoods can’t fix a poor diet, but they can help to support your body naturally and importantly – they’re rather tasty too! Popular super foods include whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and fruits such as chia, golden berries, coconut, cacao, kale and quinoa.
Maintaining a healthy diet doesn’t mean sacrificing flavour. It’s this which might be the most important lesson when it comes to including superfoods in your diet. If you think eating healthily means boring salads and sickeningly green smoothies, think again. Try our Organic Lucuma powder to add syrup sweetness to smoothies and shakes or our Organic Raw Cacao Powder for a chocolate-fix without the guilt. Combine a little of both with our Organic Chia seeds and some almond milk for a protein packed pudding smoothie. See, the possibilities are endless… So here’s something to get you started.
