Poached Pears In A Red Wine Sauce
Instructions

Tip the sugar into a large saucepan a long with the orange, cloves, cinnamon, red wine, orange juice and vanilla pod.

Bring the red wine to a simmer while stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Lower the pealed pears into the simmering liquid so that they stand up. Simmer for 20 - 25 minutes, but rotate the pears every 5 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and leave to cool down.

Remove the pears from the poaching liquid and place each pear on a plate. Serve with some of the red wine sauce, syrup and whipped cream.
